(I)Objectives
- To foster a sense of unity.
- To enhance students’ ability of self-governance, leadership skills and civic consciousness.
- To improve understanding and communication between our school and teachers and students.
- To help students acquire the best possible welfares.
- To unite students together and guide them to build up a sense of belonging to our school.
- To raise students’ interests in participating in various kinds of activities and to promote team spirits.
- To build up connection with other schools through activities and competitions.
(II)Structure
The Students’ Union is structured with 3 different components: Supervisor (the Principal), advisors (teachers) and the Students’ Union Committee (students).:
Patron:
The school principal serves as the Patron, responsible for guiding and supervising all society affairs. The Patron holds veto power over all resolutions. Any statements issued by the Executive Committee (both internal and external) must first be approved by the Patron before publication.
Advisor:
Appointed by the school from among the teaching staff, the Advisor has the right to attend Executive Committee meetings and is responsible for guiding and supervising all administrative activities of the committee.
Executive Committee:
The highest administrative body of the society, responsible for handling all affairs in accordance with the constitution. Members are selected from Form 3 to Form 5 students and include:
a) Chairperson (1 person) – Oversees all administrative matters, convenes and chairs committee meetings, and represents the society externally.
b) Vice-Chairpersons (2 persons) – Assist the Chairperson in managing society affairs and assume the Chairperson’s duties in their absence.
c) Secretary (1 person) – Handles all correspondence, records, and meeting minutes; collaborates with the Chairperson to set agendas and notify members of meetings.
d) Treasurers (2 persons) – Responsible for preparing and publishing financial reports, records of income and expenditures, and budgets.
e) Recreation Officer(s) – Organizes all recreational, social, and sports activities for the society.
f) Welfare Officer(s) – Procures necessary supplies for the society and arranges external welfare benefits for members.
g) Publicity Officer(s) – Designs promotional posters and manages all publicity activities for the society.
